Thank you I want to thank bomberboysk, i haven’t had the problem for quite sometime and couldn’t remember how to fix it, I read your post clicked on the link and it was way more simpler than I remember. If the drive is faulty and it sounds like it issimply remove it and install a new DVD burner. Many forums offered the idea that uninstalling the device, and uninstalling the drivers, clearing the Upper and Lower filters through RegEdit would do the trick.
I’ll post it if it works. I rvdw this computer brand new in box from a Walmart back in What does this mean? Then power up and see what happens. Put the install cd in the drive and boot to it.

No, create an account now. Alternatively, unplug the main power cord from the rear of the PC, open the case and disconnect both the data cable and power cable from the drive, then power up and boot into Windows with the drive completely disconnected.
